Background

After some formative years in the big smoke working for the likes of Sony Pictures I headed off to the Alps for a ski adventure. On return the idea of working for the “man” bored me somewhat so, I started my first venture – an energising chewing gum, Vibe. We had many successes, and we had many disappointments. Five years later I decided to take my skills into working at one of the countries top branding consultancies, Big Fish, where I headed up the client services team for three years working on some remarkable brands and projects. I am now the marketing director at an even better consultancy near Bath, The Collaborators.

What skills can you bring as a mentor?

Having frequented a number of pitfalls during my time as an entrepreneur my ‘watch out’ radar isn’t too bad.
I also know a thing or two about branding and marketing.

What do you think makes the difference between a good business and a brilliant business?

A belief in what you’re doing. An understanding of brand. Brilliant people.

If you had your time again in business, what would you do differently?

Don’t try and re-invent the wheel, do something simple but do it better than anyone else.
