Emma Love

Development, food science, R&D, innovation – it gets named lots of things, but basically my background has always been in creating exciting new food products for retail sale. In my job I love having the opportunity to merge creativity and culinary trends with science and problem solving, and still get a buzz when launches hit the shelves. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the biggest brands, but more recently made the switch to a challenger brand which has provided a totally different perspective on innovation.

What skills can you bring as a mentor?

Support and guidance on scaling products from concept to manufacture, pairing the creative with the technical, defining the filter through which ideas should progress. i.e. be a sounding board for how to develop new products. Also collaboration has always been integral to what I do, so I can help on building teams and working with external partners.

What do you think makes the difference between a good business and a brilliant business?

The team; having the mindset to think bigger, be solution focused and reflect on mistakes as opportunities to learn.

If you could have your time again what would you do differently?

More frequently trust my gut.
